The building was built out of hand formed, sun baked bricks in Elizabethtown around 1878 for Doctors Rober Burns Pusey and Frank P. Stickler. The land was purchased from Samuel Haycraft for $450. It remained a doctors' office until the 1940s. From then until 1949 the building was home to several businesses, including James Brothers Cafe. Shacklette Jewelers occupied the building from 1949 until the mid 1960s. Bruce Howard, a cobbler, purchased the building in 1978 for Howard's Shoe Repair. It remained a shoe repair shop until it was transformed into Cobbler's Cafe by Jayme and Kristi Burden. The building was completely remodeled and opened for business November 20, 2004. Today, Cobbler's Cafe is a community gathering place for those seeking good conversation, good coffee, and good food.
